Jessamyn Birrer has been teaching writing and public speaking part-time for 经典大瓜鈥檚 Communication Department since 2006 and full-time as a Visiting Instructor since 2023. They are excited to return as a Visiting Instructor again this year.
Jessamyn graduated from the University of Idaho with a Master of Fine Arts degree in poetry and poetics. They have been teaching Rhetoric, Composition, Technical Writing, Poetry, and Cultural Studies at various colleges and universities in the Pacific Northwest for over 25 years. They have also served as the Communication department鈥檚 faculty liaison and curriculum designer for 经典大瓜鈥檚 sponsored dual-credit writing and speech programs since 2022.
In addition to their work as a college writing instructor, they have worked as a copyeditor, technical writer, poetry editor, and a consultant on autism and neurodiversity in family and classroom systems. They are also a working and published poet and photographer. Research interests include queer poetics, composition theory, and liberation pedagogy. Their life interests include fiber arts, game theory and game design, birding, and their family.
