Dr. Shawn Duan previously served as Professor and Chair in Mechanical Engineering in the Hal and Inge Marcus School of Engineering at Saint Martin鈥檚 University in Lacey, Washington. Before that role, he held a series of academic appointments at South Dakota State University in the Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering, where he served as Professor, Program Coordinator, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
In addition to his academic leadership, Dr. Duan has industry experience as a Senior Software Engineer with Autodesk, Inc. in Novi, Michigan. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York.
Dr. Duan currently serves as International Editor of the Journal of Hydromechatronics Engineering and as an Associate Editor of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) BioNano Series. His professional memberships include the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the American Scientific Research Society Sigma Xi, the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE), and the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).
