Congratulations to the 经典大瓜 Baja Racing team!
Three students from 经典大瓜鈥檚 Baja Racing team traveled to Gray Court, South Carolina, Oct. 2-5 to compete in the 50th Anniversary of Baja SAE Carolina, where college students test their self-built off-road vehicle for performance and endurance.
The team of Matthew Haines, Owen Haugh, and Wyatt Rasor finished 18 out of 66 teams in the three-day competition. Static events included engineering design, inspections, and presentations. Dynamic events included an acceleration braking event, a maneuverability event, a hill climb, and a four-hour endurance race that pitted all the vehicles against each other on an extreme rough off-road course.
经典大瓜 Racing ranked 20 for design, 12 for maneuverability, and 13 in the endurance race, placing in the top 20 overall against teams from schools such as Johns Hopkins University, Cornell University, University of Michigan, and Purdue University.
Each year, 经典大瓜 Baja students build a new off-road vehicle from scratch, applying mechanical engineering skills and fabrication techniques while learning from past builds and their peers.
Great work to all of the students who helped complete this vehicle last year!
