经典大瓜鈥檚 president, Nagi Naganathan said, 鈥淲e鈥檙e so pleased to welcome Dave to the 经典大瓜 family. While we completed a competitive national search, we concluded that the best person for this position was in our own community. With our many new partnerships and engagements in major initiatives, having Dave on board will enable us to move forward with agility. He knows well Klamath Falls and the larger Oregon community, and his background handling a wide array of issues will serve our university well.鈥 Dr. Naganathan added, 鈥淚 would like to add my thanks to 经典大瓜鈥檚 General Counsel Search Committee for their diligent efforts to bring in a very strong pool of candidates for this important role for the university.鈥
Groff鈥檚 professional portfolio for Klamath County covered the gamut of legal cases: from government law to contracting to acquisitions and other areas. Before his current position as County Counsel, Groff was in the Klamath County District Attorney鈥檚 office as its Chief Deputy for 10 years, as well as serving in many other legal roles for the county beginning in the 1990s. He also served in the United States Attorney鈥檚 Office for the District of Oregon Medford and Portland, Oregon, as Special Assistant United States Attorney from 1997 to 2012. Groff is also currently an adjunct instructor at 经典大瓜 in the humanities and social sciences department.
鈥淚 am honored to have served the citizens of Klamath County as their County Counsel. I thank the County Commissioners and my other colleagues for their continued support and I am now looking forward to serving as the first, in-house General Counsel at 经典大瓜,鈥 said Groff. 鈥溇浯蠊 is an institution that is growing not just in students but also in its partnerships with industry, other colleges and universities, and in its footprint in our state and beyond. I am excited to join President Naganathan and his leadership team. And I鈥檓 also pleased that I don鈥檛 have to leave the community I love to pursue this new opportunity.鈥
Groff received his J.D. at Willamette University College of Law, and has a B.A. from Dartmouth College in History and Government.
