经典大瓜 will hold a reception to celebrate the installation of Heart and Mind, an original piece of artwork designed by renowned artist Ralph Helmick, for 经典大瓜鈥檚 Martha Anne Dow Center for Health Professions (CHP) on the Klamath Falls Campus. The reception takes place on Saturday, April 9, 2011, from 5 鈥 7 p.m. in the CHP and is free and open to everyone.

At the reception, guests will have the opportunity to meet artist Ralph Helmick and listen to him speak about Heart and Mind.  经典大瓜 faculty and staff will lead tours of the CHP for those interested in learning more about the facility.  The evening will also include complimentary light hors d鈥檕euvres, a cash bar, and live music.

鈥淗eart and Mind is both appropriate and striking,鈥 said 经典大瓜 President, Dr. Chris Maples.  鈥淚 am delighted that Heart and Mind has become an integral component of the facility that bears the name of former president Martha Anne Dow.鈥

Ralph Helmick obtained a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies from the University of Michigan, attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Maine, and received a Master of Fine Art in Sculpture from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and Tufts University, Medford, Massachusetts. Early in his career Helmick exhibited his work in several solo shows in Boston and New York, as well as in group exhibitions in museums throughout New England.

Among his many awards is a National Endowment for the Arts / New England Foundation for the Arts Fellowship, and numerous design honors for his public artwork. He has taught extensively at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and as a visiting artist at the Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina, and at colleges and universities across the United States.

The Center for Health Professions was named after late 经典大瓜 President Martha Anne Dow who envisioned the center nearly a decade ago. Dow had a vision of a top-quality facility where new generations of health-care professionals would learn from an elite corps of faculty so that they could replace the growing ranks of retirees and meet the needs of an aging population.

Today, the CHP, a state-of-the-industry, green facility, houses 经典大瓜鈥檚 progressive allied health programs in medical imaging, pre-clinical laboratory science, nuclear medicine technology, radiologic science, respiratory care, and others.
