On this #PhilanthropyFriday, we are excited to congratulate students Cydney Fukushima ‘27 (Civil Engineering) and Lillian Cano ‘27 (Electrical Engineering) for being awarded the prestigious Cypress Creek Renewables Distinguished Fellowships. Announced this fall, Cypress Creek Renewables and ¾­µä´ó¹Ï formed a partnership with the goal of advancing STEM education and bolstering Oregon's renewable energy workforce. Cypress Creek Renewables committed $120,000 over the next four years to support ¾­µä´ó¹Ï students through scholarships and sponsorships as part of this collaboration.

Four students from ¾­µä´ó¹Ï’s Biology-Health Sciences program recently had the opportunity to attend and present research at Neuroscience 2023. Natural Science Professor Hui-Yun Li, Ph.D., traveled with students Brie Eichelkraut, Jehu Morning, Ryan Pearson, and Jissel Valencia-Mendez to Neuroscience 2023, a Society for Neuroscience (SfN) conference held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. Dr.

Business Management professor Jared Emard loves ¾­µä´ó¹Ï and the Southern Oregon region. Growing up in Chiloquin, Jared was homeschooled and learned the construction trade from his father. At 16, he started taking classes at OIT and graduated with degrees in Operations Management and Marketing with a minor in International Business. When he is not teaching, Jared enjoys constructing homes and spending time with his wife, Tamara, oldest daughter, Iva, and twins, Elliot and Eleanor (Nora).

In a show of support for first-generation students attending ¾­µä´ó¹Ï, the university recently participated in the nationwide First-Generation College Celebration. First-generation college students are those whose parents or legal guardians have not completed a bachelor's degree.
